Core System Features
A major distinction that sets HostedControls™ apart from almost every other Building Automation HMI is that it was conceived, architected, developed, and deployed entirely as an enterprise class, on-demand, web application. Being a web application means that there are no desktop components loaded onto individual operator workstations. Every interaction with HostedControls is done through a standard web browser.
To further distinguish HostedControls from its competitors, CyrusPowered™ Products decided early on in its inception to architect a solution where most of the components were modular and could be added to the framework on a customer-by-customer basis without affecting the overall core feature set. To this end, and rather than reinvent web application architecture for our HostedControls™ Application, CyrusPowered™ Products decided to seek a tested and hardened platform with an install base in the hundreds of thousands instead simply hundreds.
We decided on the DotNetNuke® Application Framwork. At the time of launch, the DotNetNuke® project community claims a member base of over a quarter of a million people across many different nations, and a Core Team of Developers that is dedicated to leading the effort of delivering the best possible product.
Because HostedControls™ is built for the DotNetNuke Application Framework, you benefit from the following core modular feature set:
Account LogIn Module:
The Account LogIn module permits users to log in to your portal.
Announcements Module:
The Announcements Module produces a list of simple text announcements consisting of a title and brief description.
Banner Module:
Banner advertising is managed through the Admin > Vendors tab and the Host > Vendors tab. You can select the number of banners to display as well as the banner type.
Contacts Module:
Renders contact information for a group of people, for example a project team.
Discussion Module:
Renders a group of messages posted on a specific topic.
Documents Module:
Renders a list of documents, including links to browse or download the document.
Events List/Calendar Module:
Renders a list of upcoming events, including time and location. The events list can alternately be set to render in calendar format.
FAQs Module:
FAQs allow you to manage a list of Frequently Asked Questions and their corresponding Answers.
Feedback Module:
Feedback allows visitors to send messages to the Administrator of the portal. If a user is already logged in, then their name will automatically populate the form.
IFrame Module:
IFrame is an Internet Explorer browser feature which allows you to display content from another website within a frame on your site.
Image Module:
Renders an image. The module simply refers to the image by a relative or absolute URL, so the image file does not need to reside within the site.
Links Module:
This module renders a list of hyperlinks to any tab, image or file on your website; or to a file, image or web page on another website.
News Feed (RSS) Module:
Renders news feeds on you site. News feeds provide your visitors with up-to-date, topical information on any range of topic.
Search Module:
Customized searches can be configured to search one or more of the common modules.
Survey Module:
The Survey module allows your website users complete online surveys. Survey results are rendered as a bar chart and includes the number of individual responses.
Text/HTML Module:
Design content in a visual editor, or add html. Includes a picture gallery of all your uploaded images.
User Accounts Module:
The User Account module permits Registered Users to add, edit and update their User Account details. Membership services are also managed here.
User Defined Table Module:
The User Defined Table allows you to create a custom data table for managing tabular information. Note that clicking on a heading reorders the data A-Z or Z-A.
XML/XSL Module:
This module renders the result of an XML/XSL transform. The XML and XSL files are identified by their UNC paths in the xmlsrc and xslsrc properties of the module.
